DANCING QUEEN....... Music, Dance, Feeling, Being. Love made Visible.

FIRST VIDEO COMPLIMENTS OF A'JAY-THANKS!

nouvelle vague "dance with me" from bande a part

SECOND VIDEO COMPLIMENTS OF GHOST DANSING-LOVE IT!

Today, forgive me please CHARLI, JESSE,and SHADOW. I am playing hookey from answering interviewing questions! Alas ,my brain is resisting anything even minimally structured! I am caught up in music and dance thoughts!

I know STEVE and RHI and EZEKIEL and RIC will also understand as well as my friends who have given me wonderful interview questions in good faith!

I am in respite, I guess ,from a bout with a couple of weeks of a flu that caught
me when I was not looking!
Today, I just wanna have effortless fun!

All of that is ok. I will be back on track tomorrow. Today, I am being ok with going with the music flow...Ah...Sweet! Thanks for understanding all! As you can tell, I am feeling slightly guilty for my response lag!

No, I am not supporting T-Mobile necessarily but I do love this connected way they have created of getting their name and message across. I love art and self expression and connection with others who are open to it....even T-Mobile!

To me, dancing is the ultimate free style form of physical self expression where ANYONE can participate. It can lift spirits immediately, alter dark moods, enhance connection and open channels of feeling that few other ways can match.

Dancing can be shared with everyone from babies to challenged folks in wheel chairs. To dance is to love and express self. To dance with someone is to extend that love.

I am dancing in my head everywhere I am. You may think I am sitting demurely but that is not the whole story! I can listen to Kitaro's morning prayer and be at another elevation feeling wise instantly.

MUSIC. DANCE. FEELING. BEING. I believe DANCING is LOVE MADE VISIBLE.

Please share your thoughts? Where are you in your dancing today?

Great Video! I love to dance too...when cooking dinner, my daughter often puts on loud music and we dance and cook together (drives my son crazy!).
Have you ever seen the movie "Dancer in the Dark"? It is quite sad, but the music and dance in it is amazing. When you said you are always dancing in your head, you made me think of it.

Good luck with the interview questions:)

Hey there, Miss Dancin' Queen! Great post! Awesome video... I wish I had been there.

I have always loved to dance. I was always the first one on the dance floor and the last one to leave. But in recent years I have gotten sicker and less able to really DANCE. I miss it terribly. Terribly.

But you know, I do dance in my heart. (I used to dance as a child and sometimes I even choreograph whole shows in my head!)

Also - I think writing is a kind of dancing. My best dance partner has always been my pen.

Love you lots!!

(And thanks for your wonderful words at Broken Mannequin today. You are so thoughtful and full of wisdom. I am very grateful for you.)

P.S. I am sorry you have the flu!! I hope you are feeling fabulous again soon!!

I used to dance with the kids when they were smaller..they loved it. Loved feeling the music through them.

When I'm at the gym and I have my music plugged in, I'm dancing as I work out too, makes it so much easier :)

Friday was the last time I let my hair down and really danced though...could be why I ached on Saturday!!

Glad you're feling a bit better, Katie, x

I'll start dancing when things get a little crazy at home with my 12 year old twins (boy and girl). If they're arguing, I'll simply start dancing and singing. That ALWAYS stops the craziness and everyone ends up laughing! So much better than yelling, isn't it?

love the video. i think dancing is love made visible too. =)

Holy synchronicity, I just posted about dancing in my blog!!! That commercial is one of the best I have EVER seen. We humans can do the most wonderful things like music, art, dance. Why do we engage in war and hatred? Great post!!!

Dear Linda,

I saw your interpretation of butterfly's dream, and I have seen you on several other blogs I like, and I thought I'd come by and say hello. We are neighbors! And it seems we have a lot in common. I hope your flu is all gone, and I'd like to ask you to dance. :-)

Wishing you healing vibes for the flu. A friend of mine posted the first video and I was mesmerized by it. Thanks for showing the 2nd from Ghost.

People used to find it amusing I was Deaf living with a musician. Until he told them, have you ever seen her dance. She can feel and move to the music better than those of us who hear (and you wonder why I love the guy).(Hugs)Indigo

Hey Linda!!!! What a beautiful post my friend!!! I'm so sorry to hear u have been ill, but happy u are better now :) I so doo love dancing!!! When my oldest was just a baby, I would carry him on my hip, and we would dance all around the house together, lol. I believe music and dancing is what first brought us so close to each other, I hope to re-capture that closeness someday, as he is 19 now, and not willing to dance with me. "Love made Visible" , yes! absolutely!!!! take care my dear friend,

I don't dance. However, it does seem that the rest of the World has cooler commercials than U.S. television. Why is that? Obama should work on this too, put it on his "to do" list. Feel better.

I teach dance. When I was in gymnastics, I found somehow I was fairly talented in that aspect. I didn't have to be told how to express myself.

Today I did some dancing but it was for instructional purposes only :) Tomorrow I'll try to do some moves in my home for myself ;)

Yea! I am now going to a Nia class which is dancing with not too many rules. I love the music they play and the moves. I am really enjoying that I don't have to keep up with anyone and the instructor always says "listen to your body and do what it wants"
Oh I arrived through...... ummm where was it. anyway glad to be here

Hello Linda. I'm back. And you're right, the Holidays have been over. :) Sorry for the absence. I've been hard at work on some great things. As for dance. It is a great way to express yourself. Music does something internally different to us all. Sometimes, I like to put on old 80's New Wave and just dance silly like the kids in 80's prom scenes. To my peers, it's weird as hell, but to me, It just is. By the way, classic dance scene you chose.

Just me. said...

i'm glad your getting better!

I don't think a day goes by in my house that I can't be caught dancing around. Music dominates over a TV round my parts and well, there's nothing that cheers me up faster.
I hope you're dancing today and having a good one.

I'd be happy to report that I was dancing tonight--but that is not so.

Many dozens of moons ago, I was in a small sea scout band. I found out that musicians do not always wind up with the girl. Every time we played the last dance, usually a slow, hold-em-tight-and-don't-let-em-go dance, my girl would be dancing with another guy, and I'd never see them until "tomorrow". No fun at all--I'd rather have been dancing!

I love the video. I thought I "was" the dancing queen in the seventies....God, how old am I??? I love to dance, but don't get the chance to very often.

I Love, Love, Love that our new president can "bust a move"! He is the coolest.

Dancing is life. Dancing is soul. Dancing is Fun!!

I have not danced in along time. However, you sure made me wish I was dancing today. Thank you so much for that.

I loved the videos. They made me smile another thing I have not done too much of, but will try to correct.

Lastly, what a wonderful comment you left on my blog. I have been taking a break as well, but, like you, will return tomorrow.

Hi Linda,
I am still thinking about dancing and the role it plays in our lives. When my daughter was little we used to read a book titled "My Mama had a Dancing Heart" by Libby Grey. It is a beautiful picture book. If you ever get a chance to look at it, I am sure you would like it:)Keep on dancing:)
And I do hope that you feel better. I forgot to say that earlier!

I dance mostly in my head. I'm hugely clumsy, so it is perhaps safer that way. I *wish* I could dance.

I completely agree with your views on dancing. I do also love to dance - Last year I actually did Belly Dancing and danced in a huge production - but it took so much time - see the thing is (with all forms of art) that people do not realise how much effort has to be put in! It is not just work and play because it is beautifull. It is damn hard work! L, Rochelle's comment also sticks with me where she says that there is a speperate person in herself who is always dancing! Bravo!

I am in a dancing modd too ... a dancing 'cos it's Friday mood. Enjoy!

Dancing really is universal. To quote Jane Austen's Mr. Darcy out of context, "Every savage can dance."

I really like the quotes you have up, especially the one about insanity. I've seen it attributed to many different people, I wonder if its original speaker is not lost in history by now. It really does apply to people in ways we often don't realize right away!

Wait. What? said...

Wonderful video! - Dancing was something I just fell into as a new mother, i would turn the music on and sway to it with the baby - until he fell asleep or I got tired... but dancing is just one of those things that makes you feel so free and alive and my take on it is if you dont feel that way then you must be doing it wrong! hehe

Thanks for your recent comments on my blog - very good to read you, I will be back!

After watching the T-Mobil commercial, I suddenly burst out in tears. I mean... REALLY bawling. It puzzled me for a few minutes. I mean, why would that prompt such an intense reaction from me? Then -- I understood...

All of those people, smiling, dancing, just enjoying being alive -- WOW. How wonderful it would be if life were like that ALL the time. If we could gather as strangers and celebrate the joy of this human experience together.

Thanks so much for sharing. I'm passing it along to many friends elsewhere. :-)

Hello Linda

That's one of my favourite videos too - dancing at the station, it looks such fun!

I like dancing too - I often pause from blogging and working on the computer to dance to some favourite music such as ZZ Top, to loosen up my neck.

Lovely post - I shall come back and peruse your blog some more!

Mathilde Primavera.
