Celebrate Your Life! ... Dreams do come true

THE NEW YEAR

Quotes from the writings of Anais Nin...

Dreams pass into the reality of action. From the actions stems the dream again; and this interdependence produces the highest form of living.

It is the function of art to renew our perception. What we are familiar with we cease to see. The writer shakes up the familiar scene, and, as if by magic, we see a new meaning in it.

There is not one big cosmic meaning for all, there is only the meaning we each give to our life, an individual meaning, an individual plot, like an individual novel, a book for each person.
ANAIS NIN

The New Year is a time to celebrate life and to let go of the old and to rewrite any of our chosen scripts needing a revision. Now is one time to invite into our lives the NEW and the revised!

I believe we are stonger in connection so I am offering a small connection today. The dreams we are holding tight can be set free through our actions and our intentions. I am dreaming of a more organized environment, a revised budget I stick too and a healthier lifestyle!

I would love your thoughts and reflections on the New Year and what dreams are forming or coming together for you for 2009. What do you want to write in your Life's book?

What an inspiring post. There are so many hopes I feel I have for the new year, and yet sometimes it is hard to identify what is really in my heart. "Invite ...the NEW and revised" I like that. I will be pondering today what I am dreaming of for my future. At least I know I want to continue trying to write:). That and maybe getting the laundry done more often:).

i'd like to continue in the direction my life is currently on. i would, however, like to learn the art of letting go. as you so nicely put here.... letting out the old, letting in the new. that's perfect just as it is. happy new year dear linda s

Linda, I'd like to go back to where I was about three months ago. (This is 'gut' honesty, Linda--really should not dump it on you--don't even know why I am). Since three months ago, I feel myself slipping inch-by-inch, not into a drinking mode, but in thinking.

I'm beginning to allow others to rule my thoughts, and therefore my happiness...HECK, I've gotta go talk to my SPONSOR.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Before reading your posting Linda, I was just going to let one door close on 2008 and nonchalantly open the next one tomorrow.

Sure, I have the same views as everyone else of forgetting about what didn’t workout. Then dumping the next year’s unrealized desires and aspirations then giving it our best shot while hoping for the best.

As the months tear away from the calendar on the wall I need to live a healthier lifestyle to survive as us all. Our fragile world and lives makes it important that the environment is kept upfront in everyone consciousness.

The world’s needs are for the new elected man in charge that will be taking office in January start out by representing us the people and doing what he says. Alternative energies and all the other hopeful speeches he made. Not another one to lead to shame, discuss and disappointments.

But I did discover blogging though in November, when I was used to the sanitized forums and websites. I do like this better I feel there is a closer connection, still feeling relatively safe.

I am hoping to develop more memorable writings and by learning from those with the appreciation and don’t mind giving me pointers.

Now Linda, that you had got me thinking about it the chronological list has just gotten to long to list now, so I’ll just end it here, besides it will probably be a lot like everyone else’s.

So for all of you with your list ready to go, I really hope it all comes to pass the way you want. It will sure give mine a better fighting chance.

Thanks Linda, for the thought provoking post.

Hello H.G. Welcome.
I understand the laundry goal...an ongoing quest for me.Love your writing.

Shadow
Welcome. Thank you for your comments. Sometimes letting go can be an ongoing process? At least it is for me.
Steve
I invited comments! Yours are welcome here. It sounds like you have the issue identified.. I don't know what works for you but sometimes I can shift my attitude by going to the mirror saying hello Linda and let it go ( It is ok if you laugh) and sometimes I can talk, pray or put on a kettle of boiling oranges, cinnamon and lemmons. I have developed a personal belief that is the air smells good things cannot be all bad...I don't know what works for you but nothing works for any of us all the time and some things will work for a little while for all of us? Sometimes a little bit of good time is all that is needed?
Hugs
Linda

Hey there Linda, love the idea of your post. I am going to begin furthering my education again on Jan. 5th after a lot of anxiety about it. It took me a long time to work myself into a frame of mind where it's possible, but I'm going to give it the old "college try" and pursue my goals. I would love to publish a book some day, and this is a step in that direction, I think.

Wishing you the best in all that you pursue, Happy New Year!

Very nice post and some good time for reflection. What a beautiful cityscape picture. In 2002 we went downtown to my wifes work up on her roof and watched the fireworks for the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics. It was beautiful. There were like 7 or 8 spots throughout the valley that the display was lit up along the Wasatch Front simultaneously. We got to see them all from this vantage point. Totally awesome.
I am working on my exercise this year. (doctors orders.) I am hoping to keep my focus and perspective. As you already know I am somewhat sick. Some people have a difficult time keeping their mental faculties. It kind of washes away like grains of sand on a beach. The ebbing tide taketh away. I notice it sometimes and I will it to go away. I don't know if it's working. And to just be and spend my time with my family. Those things I hope for.
Wish you all your hopes and dreams this year.

I have spoken briefly about my resolutions in one of my posts. The way you phrased your ending question reminded me of my thoughts on 2008. I think that was all I wanted to put in my life's book. It's time to look onwards into the future!

Happy New Year, Linda!

Hello Linda, and a very Happy
New Year to you!

I adore Anais and her dream quote
is one I'll have to commit to
memory. Thank you.

For me this year is dedicated to
inviting someone special into my
life for the long run.
To becoming spiritually dedicated
to my career.
To manage my finances and to
go to Paris, first class.

Turn Honesty Into Art

The way this thing goes,
This poetry thing happened
And now I'm in vows
Like my man Hafiz
To turn honesty to art
Before the Lord, you,
All of you, spirit
Moving across my heart bones,
I turn in my grave.

Digging myself out
Or maybe digging me in,
Deeper into God.

The New Year. I used to think get more muscles, make that million, grand plans I never seen through. Now, I wish to maintain my health, spend time with my 17 year old daughter, travel, enjoy the good things I already have. And maybe make that million, long as I can do it in my PJ's from home part-time.
Hey, when are you going to release a few notes with balloons. I would love to include your release on BalloonRelease.blogspot.com. We are up to 29 releases so far!

I loved that second quote about artists giving new meaning to everyday things.

Anyway, I want to be healthier this year & try not to let things get to me as much (I'm easily agitated & end up giving myself panic attacks on the regular). We'll see how that goes.

For the new year I think I'm just gonna stop think about the negative things around me and focus on things that actually matter like my family and friends.

This is a very inspiring post. I believe I would like to make one or two of my dreams come true this year. It will be hard work, but without work and dreams, what is life?

Anais Nin is a favorite of mine on many different levels. My favorite quote of hers, which speaks to me directly, is: "I am the keeper of fragile things; I have kept, of you, what is indissolvable." She liked to make up her own words, too.

There's got to be a metaphor in there, somewhere. To be able to make up your own words and yet still be understood.

Linda, here are the basics.

I take a postpaid postcard, .31 at the PO. On one side I fill out my address, on the other a note reading...

Balloon released from (address) at (time). This is balloon number XX.
If ound please let us know...
where-
when-
by whom-
Join the fun at www.BalloonRelease.blogspot.com
e-mail me at BalloonReleaseFound@GMail.com

I figure a postpaid card stands a better chance of being answered. You may include my blog and e-mail or not, your choice. I number my balloons and we are up to #30. I would love to log yours on the site, so I suggest coding them Linda-1, Linda-2, Linda-3, etc.

Now, how to send. I wrap the postcard in a piece of paper, bright color if I have it. (The reason being that the one that went 142 miles was bleached white from the sun. Lucky for me the address side was down and they understood the concept. The paper wrapping keeps the ink safe from fading.)
Then I put the paper in a zip-lock baggie for water protection. Seal it firmly. Then I puncture a small hole on the outer edge of plastic so I can tie the balloons without opening the bag to moisture.

I find it sometimes takes two balloons to lift the package. 17" maybe 1, 15" two. I sometimes don't blow them up all the way, as they expand as they rise into lower pressure air, so they go further before popping.

It would be great if you could supply some photos of the release, and the address so I can log them. I won't publish an exact address, just a town or street with a link to Google maps. Then I can post it in the sidebar as Linda's release or releases.

I work at an apartment so we have balloons left over every day. When I bought them before it was about $6.00 per dozen and took three to lift, so four releases.

What part of the world are you in again? I have a few other potential releases happening in Martland and Hong Kong, maybe Oklahoma, Colorado, and Louisiana. This could be interesting.

Any questions e-mail me at oddlyso@yahoo.com or through the blog.
