We are promised nothing and build everything from that

"Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light."

Dylan Thomas

Looking at those old faded photos of Gay with Naomi celebrating her first birthday in January of 1983...her only one with her Mother and her Dad and family......I can be transported there now and remember the smells and sounds of that small celebration.... Like stepping into that Video we wished we had taken. Gay had eleven months after that. We are promised nothing. We can take nothing for granted.... except that this too shall pass.

She looked so beautiful in the photo. what's the relationship between you two? You sister? or friend? Old photos always remind us somthing and somebody. Looking at the photos you showed, I thought of my grandma, I missed her.

Thank you Rabbit
She was my daughter-in-law. I raised Naomi for six years after Gay's death. She was killed in a car wreck in icy weather in December on the way home from a family and friend dinner at my home. She was one of those beautiful persons soul and physically. I hope you have some photos of your grandma

Hi Linda,

This is very touching. However, I can't see the photo. Did you take it down?

Hi Linda. I am sorry for the loss of such a special person in your life. I am glad you helped give Naomi a good life and a fair chance. I think your memorial for Gay here is wonderful and I hope that we can continue to support you.

Hey Charli
All is well. It has been a long time and I think we are never ready to give up people we love.
I am blessed to have had her as part of my life! Thank you for your kind words and caring

Thanks Linda. What a touching photo. I didn't realize that Gay was only 23 years old.

Linda, you have been so gracious in sharing a glimpse of this beautiful woman whose time came too soon. I hope her daughter inherited the light of her smile.

You made a very heartfelt gesture with this post, and we should all hope to be so loved.

Linda, Thank you so much for this expression. After I read this the other day, I walked outside to meditate. As I set there thinking of Gay, James Taylor came on the radio and sang Fire and Rain, which was one of gay’s favorite songs and one that always reminds me of her.

I’d like to say more but I don’t want to sound cliché. I will say that Gay was more than just my sister; she was also a role model and since she has been gone I seem to be losing my way.
